Standing for Original Video Animation, OVA is
anime produced directly for the video market. Due to its more mature
target audience, OVA is generally more plot-intensive and is
superiorly animated compared to its TV counterpart. Note that OVA
may still reach the airwaves eventually.
Some people prefer OAV, standing for Original Video
Animation, over OVA, since they believe the latter may
suggest topics that are not directly related to anime.
